VEX Robotics

2024-2025
VEX Robotics

In September we will begin the application process for 4th and 5th graders for the VEX Robotics team. We will only have 15 slots available due to space and materials.  Students who are interested in participating will be asked to complete an application (see link below).  The application must be signed by the classroom teacher.
Each year our focus for the club is COLLABORATION. We will be asking for feedback from teachers on the student's skills in collaboration and communication with others. Applicants that are unable to work well with others will be selected for the club only if space is available. Other considerations will include work completion, attendance, and classroom behavior. Priority spots will be given to students that are highly recommended by their classroom teachers, as well as Art, Music, PE and STEM teachers.
To be considered for the club students must agree to the following:

I will attend every meeting. I will not quit and will participate in all my team’s competition events. I will work with a team and do my assigned jobs. I will take robotics seriously and behave professionally. I will respect the other members of the club. I will stay focused on the given tasks. I will be picked up on time, at 4:30, for all club meetings. I will be a role model of good behavior, attendance and classwork in my regular classroom. I understand that after 3 warnings about any of the above, I will no longer be allowed to participate in the VEX Robotics Club

The club will meet every Tuesday from 3:15pm to 4:30pm in the library. Our first session will be on Tuesday, October 8.  Competition dates are January 25 and February 8 and for qualifying teams, the district finals is March 1. Please check your calendars and ensure your student can attend all the competition events.  If they are unable to attend it may leave the remaining team members unable to compete.

If your 4th or 5th grader is interested and you feel that you and your child can keep the above commitments and commit to the $150 fee, please have your child complete the application, including your portion as a parent, and submit it to the classroom teacher for endorsement by Thursday, September 27.   If you are unable to pay the $150 fee, please contact Mrs. McCann.  We will select members the last week of September based on time of submitting the application (first come, first served) as well as teacher recommendations.
